Controlling the Visibility of Experiences

In this article, we’ll explain when it makes sense to hide experiences – and when it doesn’t.

You can decide at any time whether an experience should be visible or hidden – directly in the Experience Overview within the CMS. This feature allows you to manage your offering flexibly, without having to delete experiences right away.

  1. When does it make sense to hide an experience?
  2. Our tip: Keep seasonal experiences visible year-round
  3. Where are hidden experiences no longer visible?
  4. Visibility on Google – important to know

1. 🕵️ When does it make sense to hide an experience?

Hiding experiences can be useful in many scenarios – for example:

  • You currently don’t have a massage therapist, but plan to offer massages again in the future.

  • You regularly offer a brunch on Sundays, but during Advent you’re hosting a special holiday brunch – so you temporarily hide the regular brunch.

2. 🌞❄️ Our tip: Keep seasonal experiences visible year-round

We recommend keeping both summer and winter experiences visible all year long. This allows guests to see your full range of offerings at any time – even if some experiences aren’t currently bookable.

Here’s what to do instead:

  • Set the experience to "not requestable/bookable" instead of hiding it.

  • Adjust the stream order in your WebApp, e.g., move the "Winter Experiences" stream further down during the summer.

3. 👀 Where are hidden experiences no longer visible?

Once you set an experience to "hidden," it will no longer appear in:

  • The ExperienceApp (for guests on-site)

  • Your website

  • Any embedded streams (e.g., in the guest info tool, correspondence tool, etc.)

4. 🔎 Visibility on Google – important to know

Even if an experience is hidden in the CMS, it can still be found via Google – for example, through existing links or Google search results. So you'll still collect impressions and clicks.

If you don’t want the experience to be found on Google, you have a few options:

✅ The experience is no longer offered?

Simply delete the experience entirely if it’s permanently removed from your offering.

⚠️ You don’t want to delete it yet, but also don’t want it to appear on Google?

Then you have two options:

  1. Change the category to “Information”
→ Experiences in this category are not indexed by Google.

  2. Activate the “Hide from search engines” option
→ You’ll find this setting at the bottom of the experience page under Advanced Settings.

🕓 Note: Changes to indexing may take approximately 2–4 weeks to be processed by Google.
